Privacy Policy
Arkdemics is operated by JMB LLC ("Arkdemics," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Arkdemics mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Arkdemics you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and password (passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored by us in readable form), plus profile details you choose to add such as your skill level and the welding standards you work to.
- Content you submit — weld photos you upload, the tags and notes you add, poll votes, flags, and the messages, job details, and photos you exchange inside a 1:1 mentoring session.
- Mentor application information — if you apply to be a mentor, the credentials, certifications, experience, and any supporting photos you provide for review.
- Payment information — purchases are processed by our payment providers (Apple for subscriptions; Stripe for mentor sessions and payouts). We do not collect or store your full card number or bank details — those go directly to the payment provider. We receive confirmation of a payment and limited details such as the amount and status. Mentors who set up payouts provide identity and bank information directly to Stripe.
- Device and usage information — a push-notification token (if you allow notifications) and basic app usage needed to operate features and improve the product.
How we use your information
- To provide the app: accounts, the weld feed, grading, mentoring sessions, and payments.
- To send you service notifications (for example, a new hire request, a session message, or a payment) by push and email. You can turn off notification emails in the app and push in your device settings.
- To verify mentor credentials and operate the mentor marketplace.
- To keep the community safe — moderation of flagged content and enforcement of our rules.
- To improve Arkdemics, including using anonymized poll and feedback data to develop product features, which may include future AI-assisted weld feedback. We do not use AI-generated weld images, and product-improvement data is anonymized.
Service providers we share information with
We use trusted third parties to run Arkdemics. They process information only to provide their service to us:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, and app functions.
- Stripe — mentor-session payments and mentor payouts (including identity and bank verification for mentors).
- Apple / RevenueCat — subscription purchases and their validation.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications.
- Email delivery — sending service emails.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and content you post. By posting, you grant Arkdemics a license to display that content in the app and to use anonymized poll and feedback data to improve the product. Photos you upload privately inside a 1:1 session are shown only within that session unless you choose to publish them to the public feed.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings in the app; this removes your profile and associated personal content from our systems, subject to limited records we must keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, payment records held by our payment providers).
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including access rules and encrypted connections, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
Children
Arkdemics is intended for users 17 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your rights
You may access, correct, or delete your personal information through the app, or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated in the app.
